FBA to PBSP: Assessing Behavior and Designing Effective Interventions

About this Training: This five session series is designed to build internal capacity within schools for staff to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs). The series will guide participants through the steps of the FBA process and Positive Behavior Support Plan development. Strategies for data collection, crisis planning, and intervention implementation with fidelity will also be shared.

Intended Audience: This series is intended for administrators, special education teachers, general education teachers, and other school personnel such as behavior specialists or school psychologists that support students through the development of a Functional Behavior Assessment and Positive Behavior Support Plan process.

Participants should plan to attend the full training series as each session connects and builds on the previous.
Participants must register for EACH session individually.
Act 48 credits will be awarded at the end of the series.
There is no cost for these trainings.

All sessions will be held on the second Monday of the month from 9AM -11AM.

Session 3: March 8, 2021 (9:00AM-11:00AM) - Designing a Function Aligned Positive Behavior Support Plan

During this session, participants will be introduced to the components of a Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP). The importance of teaching and practicing replacement behaviors to build up students' skill repertoire will be discussed. The remaining time will highlight various antecedent and consequence interventions and discuss how to select interventions that correspond to the hypothesized function(s) of behavior.
